General Buhari married Aisha as second wife  in 1989 after the general got divorced from his first wife, Safinatu Yusuf, who died afterwards.

Since then the wife has remained on the background despite the popularity of the General. But recently, Aisha Buhari seems to have come out of her shell. From donating relief materials to internally displaced persons, to mobilizing the women folk during the election campaign to support her husband’s presidential aspiration and even speaking about her plans if she becomes Nigeria’s first lady.

The couple, who are devoted Muslims, have five children together, Amina, Halima Buhari Sheriff, Yusuf, Zarah and Aisha.

Aisha Buhari is a thorough professional and an alumnus of the famous Ahmadu Bello university where she earned a Bachelors in Public administration.
